One of the most anticipated MPIOH events of the year is soon to come, and you will not want to sit this one out; as the committee for the 2010 MPI Mid-America Education Conference have put together an exceptional on slot of informal, "do it now" content. This year the planners strove to utilize speakers and break out sessions that will leave you with insight that you can directly put into play after the session. This year's host sight is Butler County, Ohio located just north of Cincinnati. The beautiful state of the art Savannah Center, in West Chester will act as the host sight for the majority of the activities, and the Cincinnati Marriott North at Union Center will assist as the Conference Hotel.
The first activity of the weekend will be in conjunction with IKEA West Chester, and will feature Stephanie Denton with " The Power of Being Organized; 10 Tips and Products". Ms. Denton is an award winning organizer, and will show attendees tips and products from IKEA before heading back to the facilities.
The first time attendee's reception really is a great asset to the program that will allow first time MAC attendees to mingle with other rookies, as well as discuss the conference with some MPI veterans. The opening session will follow at 6pm, located at the Savannah Center.
The emcee for the conference will be Jon Petz, owner and founder of his company Bore No More. Jon is a familiar face with the Ohio Chapter of MPI, as he has been featured as a speaker and was also the host of the 2009 Award Ceremony. The opening keynote session will begin at 8:20am, and will flow into the speaker showcase, which each year features some of the most talked abotu content of the event.
A great line up awaits attendees for Monday mornings break out sessions. Audio Visual "The Inside Scoop", Social Networking, and Green Meetings are some of the topics discussed. Following lunch will feature one of the more entertaining speakers of the event, Steve Rizzo. Mr. Rizzo holds his Masters in Theater Arts and has more than 15 years as a professional headline comedian, with opening acts such as Dennis Miller and Drew Carey. Steve walked away from a flourishing career to achieve what he really wanted to do; Steve now travels the world sharing his experiences while teaching people to be happy and successful regardless of their current circumstances. He has achieved an induction into the National Speakers Hall of Fame, and is sure to be entertaining and inspirational session.
The "Technology Question and Answer Session" and MPI Platinum Series Presentation "Leveraging Legal Knowledge During Contract Negotiations" with Kelly Bagnall will follow Mr. Rizzo for the PM Break Out Sessions. Ms. Bagnall is out of Dallas Texas, and is partner in the law firm McCarroll, LLP and a member of the state bar of Texas. She specalizes in assisting hotel and resort clients by handling disputes involving litigations, arbitration, and attending to risk management.
Monday night's reception should be one to remember; sponsored by EnterTRAINment and the Bulter County CVB, guests will be able to enjoy over 80,000 sq. ft., of the worlds largest indoor train display, and was also recently voted "Ohio Best Family Entertainment Center". The facility features themed meeting rooms for 10 to 300 guests with catering by Elegant Fare. We look forward to seeing you there!
Attendees will be welcomed Tuesday morning bright and early by Joan Eisenstodt, with her MPI Platinum Series keynote session "Who's looking back at you in the mirror? Ethics in our industry". Joan founded her Washington, DC conference and meeting consulting firm Eistenstodt & Associates in 1981 and has been an influential figure in the industry for over 30 years, and has been inducted into the Convetion Industry Council Hall of Leaders in 2004. Her session will lelave attendees with fantastic insight as to where our industry stands on eithics in the new decade.
Tuesday's closing luncheon presentation is definatly one of the highlights of the week, with Michael Cerbelli "Hot Events and Entertainment Ideas in 2010 TM" Mr. Cerbelli is the Creative and Operations Director for Total Entertainment, based out of Carlstadt, New Jersey. He began his career as a block party DJ in New York, and has grown to one of the most recognized entertainment gurus in the special events industry, working on weddings for both Paul McCartney and Billy Joel, as well as the Kennedy Center Honors. He has also recently taken the role as Chairman of the SEARCH Foundation.
