Recently, the announcement of the soon to be built, $160 million dollar Convention headquarters hotel has caused a buzz of excitement throughout the city. The facility that will be located on west side of N. High Street across from the Hyatt Regency will dawn 500 rooms with 54 suites, as well as 30,650 Square Feet of meeting and convention space. The project was made possible through partnerships with the Franklin County Commissioners, Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority, City of Columbus, and Nationwide Reality Investors.
Experience Columbus recently spoke with the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority Executive Director Bill Jennison who stated that Columbus can currently accommodate only 65% of the target market for room requirements, but with the new facility due to open in 2012 that percentage will rise to 92%. This facility will open new doors for the city, and will be a great addition to an already stellar Convention City.
